Star Wars: Episode I
The Phantom Menace
Storybook
based on the screenplay of George Lucas
Published by Randomhouse
Scott's Rating: 4 out of 4
This is a shortened version of the film, but the storybook is jammed to the gills with color photos from the film. It is paperback with glossy paper. (It's pretty much similar in format to the old storybooks from the original trilogy.)
Scott:
This book will appeal to kids and adult collectors. Kids will love the story they can read and the flashy layout. Adult collectors will love the beautiful photos inside. The photos consist of the standard ones you see commonly and a few directly from the film. The story also contains a few elements cut from the film, such as Darth Maul jumping on the ramp of the Queen's ship after Qui-Gon. This is one you'll probably want to add to your collection.
Scott:
Having grown up with the old storybooks, I now appreciate the durability of the hardback format. I beat my ESB storybook around pretty good as a kid and it has held up well. The paperback format of this storybook couldn't take such a beating. The old storybooks also started out with a great summary of each of the characters. I wish this had it! That was one of my favorite things as a kid.
Scott:
There's a great shot of Watto in all his hideous glory! Great stuff!
