This is a record of major and minor events in the existence of
the STAR WARS Technical Commentaries web site.
The listing is incomplete, since I began tracking progress only very recently.
The list is mainly meant as an aid for readers seeking the newest updates.
Progress on unreleased pages is not documented.
At any given time, at least five times as much activity is devoted to
incomplete, offline pages as to the documents which are visible to the public.
The number of pages under construction greatly outnumbers those which are
presently available for viewing.

-
There's a new page about
Power Technologies
in STAR WARS.
For the time being I'll treat it as an off-shoot of the old
Miscellaneous Technicalities page.
That may change in the future,
when the miscellaneous page dissolves into new pages on separate topics.
-
Corrected the nuclear isomeric device terminology,
in the Power Technologies discussion,
after comment by
C.Andrews.
-
Tabulated several more real-world
power comparisons,
contributed by
M.Wong.
-
I'm gradually replacing old videotape images with new frames derived from DVD,
thanks to the generous and meticulous efforts of
E.Platten.
2004-09-26
After viewing DVD images of Alderaan's destruction
(kindly presented by M.Wong),
I noticed the implications for propagation speeds of shield effects.
See Alderaan.

- Added a mathematical appendix to Planets,
detailing the theory and limitations
of the measurement of the filmed images of planets and moons in STAR WARS
or other shows.
Trying to measure a radius of curvature from the image of a nearly flat horizon
is unfeasible and often misleading.
See Horizons & Ellipse Measurements.
For a reliable and consistent measurement,
one needs a majority of the globe to be in the picture.
2004-06-22
- Added some remarks and calculations
about the natural growth of the Droid Army,
in Separatists.
2004-02-29
- Added some speculations about functions of areas highlighted in
Lambda shuttle schematics,
after comments by A.Tse.
- Added a (long overdue) appendix page counting the blisters on the hull of the
Executor,
using some of L.Buery's
photos from Edinburgh and mine from Bradford.
The blisters may be equivalent to the
heavy turrets
on a star destroyer.
- Restructured and tidied the older commentaries about
Executor's weaponry.
- Shifted the brief remarks about effective
weapons ranges of starships to
Miscellaneous Technicalities.
2004-02-19
- Added some images [from Empire: Darklighter comics]
and comments about the Rand Ecliptic
in Warships of the Empire.
2004-02-01
- Incremented the moon count of Tatooine,
reminded by J.Henkel.

-
I report the important rediscovery, by
Wayne Poe,
of a direct, contemporary quotation from Richard Edlund,
proving that in Return of the Jedi
the globes
atop the bridge of Executor
or a star destroyer
are indeed primarily sensors.
See the commentary about Bridge Towers.
This confirmation will be incorporated progressively throughout the relevant pages.
The clarity of the unambiguous quote will allow the simplification of a few passages
in the commentaries.
2004-01-25
- Added a page that collects interpretations of the Hebrew inscriptions of
Lord Vader's chestplate,
starting with contributions by
W.Salter and I.Rehberg.
