As things were once again rather quiet over at SWTOR.com last week, let's kick things off with a couple outside articles, one good and one bad. Starting with the good, GDC Online has nominated Star Wars: The Old Republic in a number of different categories for their upcoming Game Developers Choice Online Awards. For an MMO that is billed as struggling, SWTOR has earned more nominations than anyone else for the awards that are to be handed out on October 10, 2012 at the Austin Convention Center. The categories featuring The Old Republic nominations include:
- Best Audio - Best Online Game Design - Best Online Visual Arts - Online Innovation - Best Online Technology - Best New Online Game
And now on to the not-so-good news. Inquisitr.com provides a detailed report on the declining subscription numbers and pessimism currently surrounding the Star Wars MMO. From BioWare layoffs to a troubled PVP system to free-to-play rumors, the article certainly doesn't put a positive spin on the latest rumblings about the game. That being said, the writer doesn't look to be trying to skewer the game so much as he's simply summarizing what's been reported as of late. Click here for the read. At the end of the day, if you're personally enjoying Star Wars: The Old Republic , that's all that matters. Hang in there and have a little faith that the developers are listening to their players and the media alike in order to provide the best possible Star Wars MMO experience.
July 27th brought forth another new Friday Community Q&A. This week's topics included Legacy character perks, the seven pillars on Corellia, the selling of DNA samples, character transfers, and server stability fixes. Click here!
