IGN's Eric Goldman interviewedThe Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni about what fans can expect from Season 4, "Battle Lines." Their conversation covered such topics as Katee Sackhoff's Death Watch warrior, Season 4's focus on Captain Rex, the new Phase II clone trooper armor, and the Darth Vader moment on Mortis. Here's an excerpt where Goldman asks Filoni about Savage Opress:
IGN: That Nightsisters story also left us with one of the bigger dangling threads of the series so far, with Savage Opress and? Darth Maul?
Filoni: Something was in the crystal ball, right? What was that? I mean Darth Maul got cut in half. It seems highly unlikely that anything could happen with that character. So it's going to be interesting to see how that? Because I've said it before, that is a story we are going to continue. We have to! [Laughs] We left that right there. So we can't just go, "Ehh, we're not gonna do that!" Savage Opress, his story continues and his arc continues. It's one of the more interesting ones, especially because it's so on the Dark Side of things. But I think the fans really want it and we really want to tell it too. That and the Ventress arc?
I thought the changes we made to Ventress and the evolution of her character was one of the more interesting decisions that we got to experiment with. And we take that even farther this season. I'm excited to see that and how the audience reacts to that, because she has become, to me, one of the most interesting characters on the show. She starts off as kind of that, "Oh, she's just the bad girl," running around with a lightsaber. And she's become so much more. We've learned that she had a past, that she had this childhood and it was great to get to develop that stuff. It was fun to work on with Katie [Lucas] ? that was really fun for us all.
