Just received a Google alert from Broadcastingcable.com that contained an update on the status of the upcoming Robot Chicken: Star Wars III episode.
See the relevant portion of the article below:
"Adult Swim is planning to complete the Robot Chicken: Star Wars trilogy. The network said at its upfront party Wednesday night that it is going forward with a third, and most likely final, Star Wars themed episode of its stop-motion series Robot Chicken (?don?t worry, we aren?t planning a prequel trilogy?). Robot Chicken has aired two Star Wars themed episodes already, most recently last November. The network didn?t have a launch window for the new special, but when asked, a network executive targeted this Fall."
While news on the third episode to complete the Original Trilogy is extremely exciting of course, the idea of Adult Swim not pursuing episodes based on the Prequel Trilogy is very upsetting.
As we have seen with the previous two RC Star Wars releases, there are some extremely creative (and flat-out hysterical) minds behind them. The Prequels would seem to offer them an abundance of source material to pull from and parody in ways that would continue to make our sides ache from uncontrolled laughter.
Fingers tightly crossed that Episode III is not the final installment of what is possibly the funniest parody of our beloved Star Wars universe on the market.
