this was one of the most wondrous natural formations found on the planet Alsakan. During ancient times, a group of rebellious dukes controlled the Ten Valleys and various parts of Alsakan, but there was near-continual warfare among them. When Saml Previl finally conquered the dukes of the Ten Valleys, he and his descendants were able to unite the peoples of Alsakan under one leader.
