this was the designation of a small, treaded droid manufactured by Slayn & Korpil and Roche Industries, for use in mining and excavation. The 11-17 series was equipped with a pair of heavy treads, and was "armed" with a plasma burrowing torch, a blow torch, and a telescoping buzzsaw. In order to communicate with its operator, the 11-17 was also equipped with an SW-95 message transceiver and an OmniNode ComSet. These automated miners became the predecessor of the Mole Miner.
