Utopia 2000 - Nantes, France
I wanted to tell you a few things about the science-fiction international festival, "Utopia 2000", that took place in my home city of Nantes, France.
The festival dealt with all things sci-fi, for example books, comics, illustrations, and of course movies. Star Wars was not directly mentioned, perhaps because they considered it a space opera and not a real sci-fi movie.
The festival was divided into different rooms. A few of them had Star Wars related names that had been translated into French (Alderande, Naboo, Corellienne).
I noticed that THX 1138 was on the schedule, so I rushed to the festival theatre to see the first movie made by George, as I hadn't seen it before. The least I can say was that it was strange! The organisers asked for an original version of the movie, and that's just what they got (no French subtitles).
Next I went to the room dedicated to RPG sci-fi games. There was a fabulous speeder bike, as seen on Endor, actual size! There were signs telling us not to touch it. I wonder if it was the actual bike used in the film.
