The good folks at LiningUp.net have been busy trying to overcome a small problem in their plans. At this time, the Hollywood Chinese Theater is not planning on showing Revenge of the Sith. The theater has a long and famous history with Star Wars and this is definitely an unexpected turn.
Update 1: We have more information from LiningUp.net about their event.
Liningup.net is staying in the spot where we have great relationships with the theatre, the local businesses, and the Hollywood Division of the LAPD. We are lining up at the theatre where the first Star Wars premiered in 1977, where all of the prequels have played, where George Lucas, R2D2, Harrison Ford, and Darth Vader have their footprints in the world-famous ?Forecourt of the Stars?.
We are raising money for an amazing charity, Starlight Starbright Children?s Foundation, that works to brighten the lives of seriously ill children. We?ve only been in line for 3 days and we have already topped more than $6200 in donations, with hopefully tens of thousansds more to be raised.
Twice before we?ve lined up at Grauman?s Chinese Theatre without confirmation that the films would play there. Twice before, we?ve been told it was going to play somewhere else. Hopefully, our luck olds out for a third time. If not, we?ll still have an incredibly fun time relaxing with other Star Wars fans and raising both funds and awareness for the Starlight Starbright Children?s Foundation.
Update 2: Chris from FilmThreat.com sends us some more info about which theaters will get Revenge of the Sith in Hollywood.
I just found this out last night that the Chinese is definitely NOT getting Episode III. There may be a press screening there, but the film is not screening at that venue.
Instead, ROTS will be at the Arclight Theatre, just blocks away, but not in the Cinerama Dome as George does not like that screen. Sith will screen digitally at the Arclight, just go to their web site as they are already promoting it. In any case, I got this direct from the manager at the Arclight.
Update 3: Drudgereport picked up the story on Variety.com this morning. Variety has confirmed that Paramount has scheduled "The Longest Yard" to open at the Chinese theater a week after the ROTS scheduled release.
Update 4: iFilm has updated with street interviews from individuals in front of the Chinese Theater. Thanks David.
It definitely looks like Chinese will not get Revenge of the Sith.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
