Drew McWeeny of HitFlix.com has posted a nice blog depicting the dilema being faced by the parents of younglings now that the entire saga is available on Blu-ray. Of course, young children could have seen all of the films previously but the new release has certainly triggered a new enthusiasm for re-watching the films. Now add that to the fact that a larger portion of the younger Star Wars audience has become emotionally invested in The Clone Wars and the characters within. For them, especially if they had yet to see Episode III, the events of Revenge of the Sith are now resonating as much more tragic. Click here to read Drew's post which goes into detail of how his young kids reacted to some of the more dramatic ROTS scenes. Excerpt below...
"When Anakin executed Count Dooku, that was shock number one for the boys. And I will stand by my initial statement in 2005 when I said that Ian McDiarmid in that scene ("Kill him") in particular and the movie as a whole is absolutely fantastic. It's one of my favorite performances in any "Star Wars" film including the original trilogy. He's a reptile. He's lip-smackingly awful. I love him. The execution upset both of them. Toshi said, "He's just fooling, right?" I had to point out where Dooku's head was and how unfortunately not-attached-to-his-body it had become, much to Toshi's dismay.
"Anakin sure likes to cut off heads," he told me after we watched the whole sequence. I think the excitement of the crash landing and the escape that follows distracted him some from his reaction, but in the moment, he looked at me, and he was upset by it. He likes to hold onto my arm even though he's sitting on the couch, and when he's really wrapped up in something, he can squeeze hard enough to bruise."
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
