From friend of TFN, John Tenuto:
"Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of ?Star Wars? on May 30th at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. A new documentary film about Star Wars fans called ?The Force Among Us? will have its North Suburban premier at 7 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, located on the Grayslake Campus. The documentary presents a positive look at Star Wars fans, from the United States to Norway, challenging common stereotypes by presenting the diversity of Star Wars fan experiences.
Some of the film?s scenes were filmed at the college and the film includes interviews with Dan Madsen and Dustin Roberts.
The documentary will be followed by a conversation with brother and sister filmmakers Cris and Cortney Macht, who were guests at Lucasfilm?s Star Wars Celebration 4 and will be guests at Celebration Europe. There will also be a raffle of Star Wars items with all proceeds donated to the charity Reach Out and Read (www.reachoutandread.org) Items include Hasbro toys and a softcover "Making of Star Wars" book. There will also be autographed items. All items donated by Dreamland Comics of Libertyville, Illinois and Federation Toys. Winners must be present.
The film showing is free, but free tickets are available to guarantee a seat if the event does sell out. Tickets are available at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts Box Office, or they can be mailed for a small shipping and handling fee by visiting the JLC website http://jlcenter.clcillinois.edu/index.asp or calling the Box Office at (847) 543-2300. Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
