TIME Looks Back On The Original Release Of Star Wars

In celebration of Star Wars: Episode IV recently turning 35, TIME.com has taken a look back on their coverage of the film's original release. TIME Magazine was eagerly on board for the Star Wars ride from the beginning according to the excerpt below...

"Outside the movie business, though, Lucas?s vision had one big early supporter: TIME magazine. In an article intended for the cover of the May 30, 1977, issue, TIME writer Gerald Clarke proclaimed Star Wars ?a grand and glorious film that may well be the smash hit of 1977, and certainly is the best movie of the year so far. ?
