Over the years we've learned of numerous actors and actresses who may have been considered for (Kurt Russell), or who had even turned down roles (Leonardo DiCaprio) in Star Wars films. Well, Sylvester Stallone has been promoting his upcoming film The Expendables and let loose the following during an online Q&A session at Ain't it Cool News. When asked if he tried out for the role of Han Solo in the original Star Wars, Sly responded:
"Ryan, Yes as a matter of fact I did and it didn?t meet with much approval since when I stood in front of George Lucas he didn?t look at me once, obviously being very shy. Then I said ?Well obviously I?m not the right type.? but it all worked out for the best since I don?t look good in spandex holding a Ray gun."
And there you have it. This was before Rocky hit the big screen so it's not like George knew he had a future superstar on his hands. All things considered, I think we're all more than happy that things worked out the way they did. Then again, Sly may have attended more conventions...
It should also be noted that the person asking Stallone the Star Wars question was none other than TFN and ForceCast friend Ryan Pominville. Congrats to Ryan for helping to make some non-CV-related Star Wars news this week.
