The question was immediately asked (and continues to be asked to this day) among fans and movie-goers alike as soon as the high definition "format war" between Blu-ray and HD-DVD was finally resolved:
When can we expect to see the complete Star Wars Saga on Blu-ray?
Many fans have been hesitant to take the plunge into the world of Blu-ray until they can purchase their beloved space opera in this new HD format. So being the great voices of the Star Wars fan community that they are, Jason & Jimmy posed this question to Lucasfilm's own Steve Sansweet during their ForceCast interview at this past weekend's C2E2. While Steve was unable to provide any definitive concrete details on when fans will be able to purchase the Saga on Blu-ray, he did say that the BD release should be coming "in the not too distant future".
In addition to the ForceCast interview, TFN's own Mike Barrick also provides a link to an article from TheDigitalBits.com as well as from IGN.com that reference Steve's Blu-ray comments, including the quote below:
"We have been at work for a couple of years working on - I won't call it the Ultimate Set because we keep finding stuff - but, a very full set of all six movies on Blu-ray with lots of extra material. We're finding all kinds of scenes from dailies that have never been seen before. Beyond all of those things that you know about... there are some real treasures."
Whether this means we'll be able to find the BD release sitting on store shelves in a year or two (or more) from now is anyone's guess at this time. But regardless of when the Saga does hit the BD format, rest assured this will act as a huge launching pad for scores of fans to "take their first step into a larger world" - the world of glorious Blu-ray high definition.
We'll be sure to keep a hawk's-like eye on any and all future news pertaining to this highly-anticipated entry into the Star Wars media realm.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
