S.W.O.R.A. And JumpCon Boston Updates Posted By Mike on July 19, 2008
Our good friend Mark at Lightsabre sent over the following:
"First off SWORA announced it's new ambassador tonight, Richard LeParmentier. Here's the official press release from SWORA.
A New Ambassador Coming Through ! - As S.W.O.R.A.'s first ambassador, Gerald Home, leaves his position to be an "honorary ambassador" from now on, a new ambassador is here to carry the flag of S.W.O.R.A. inside the world of STAR WARS fandom; who is no other than the famous Admiral Motti: Richard LeParmentier! Click here to read his words for S.W.O.R.A.!
Secondly I was contacted by Ian Liston this week regarding the recently cancelled JumpCon convention in Boston this coming weekend. Ian asked me to spread the news as far as I can, and so I just had to let TF.N know about it.
Click through to Lightsabre and click on the article about JumpCon for an in-depth look at the circumstances surrounding the cancelation of the convention."
Thanks Mark!
More on a JumpCon alternative from Patience from Texas...
"Thought your readers in New England (especially those planning to attend the cancelled WTF-con "Jumpcon Boston") would want to know - the great folks from the New England Fan Experience are holding a last minute convention across the street from the planned Jumpcon location. They have already secured one guest, Mark Godard from "Lost in Space".
This "nonJumpCon" is at the Back Bay Hilton, 40 Dalton Street, Boston, Friday through Sunday, 3pm – 10pm on Friday, 10am – 6pm on Saturday and 12pm – 6pm on Sunday.
It is open and FREE to all fans regardless of whether they have their JumpCon tickets and is being held by these great folks at United Fan Con/NEFE, along with help and support from lots of other quarters.Great opportunity to make friends, there will be panels and an auction, even some dealers -- and you can buy a beer for the people who are seeking refunds from Jumpcon.
