Last week, we brought you word that Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg had been tapped to write and produce Star Wars Episodes VIII and IX. Now, The Hollywood Reporter is following up on the Kasdan and Kinberg news by saying that the two will not be involved with the second and third sequels. Instead, THR's sources say, they will work on Marvel-esque spinoff films in the Star Wars universe:
[I]nsiders tell THR that while Kasdan and Kinberg have indeed been hired to work on the Star Wars franchise, they will be writing separate projects (hence the reason why they also would receive producer credits), not necessarily Episode VIII and Episode IX.
Their scripts could turn into official ?Episodes? in the main Skywalker storyline, or they could form the basis for spinoffs focusing on side characters.
This certainly sounds like what Disney has done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, will these films become Episodes 10-12, or will there be future Star Wars movies that do not feature the "Episode" label? Only time will tell.

I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
