In celebration of National Robotics Week, CNN Tech compiled a list of ten of the coolest robots, half of which they wish were real and half of which they're glad are not. Everyone's favorite astromech R2-D2 makes the "good robot" list, and though the robots aren't ranked in order of coolness, I think we know where R2 would stand.

CNN's Doug Gross writes:

Was there any doubt R2 would make the list?

From the moment the Force takes out the ill-fated R5-D4, putting R2 in Luke Skywalker's hands, the little guy does as much to save the universe as any Jedi.

Easy to underestimate, R2 always comes up with the goods when he's needed, from performing repairs on a busted-up X-wing fighters to passing along the message from Princess Leia that gets the whole series started (you know, the *real* series).
