Before he joined the Rebellion, before he met Yoda and trained to become a Jedi, before he knew his father was the Dark Lord Vader; Luke Skywalker spent his days working on his Uncle Owen's Moisture Farm. As a teenager, Skywalker dreamed of adventures beyond Tatooine, primarily joining the Imperial Academy and becoming the greatest pilot in the galaxy.
In Star Wars: A New Hope, Obi-Wan Kenobi hands Luke his fathers lightsaber for the first time, as depicted here in this new Gentle Giant mini bust capturing the youthful essence of the soon to be Jedi Knight. A variant mini bust with Luke holding a model of a T-16 Skyhopper is also available to our Premier Guild Members.
Painstakingly crafted and cast in high quality poly-stone, no detail was over looked. Luke stands approximately 6" tall and includes a detailed lightsaber raised up over Luke's head.
This strictly limited edition hand numbered collectible comes complete with a matching certificate of authenticity.
Gentle Giant Ltd. takes a break from the Episode V themed busts to bring us Luke Skywalker as he was seen for the first time back in 1977. Tatooine Luke is another version of this character that collectors have been begging for since the line began. Previously, the only other Episode IV Luke busts to be released were the X-wing Pilot and Stormtrooper Disguise versions.
The sculptor took a more artistic approach to this piece as we don't actually ever see Luke in this exact pose in the film. It's a mix between the classic look of the Star Wars Hildebrandt poster and when Ben gives Anakin's lightsaber to Luke for the first time. With the lightsaber attached, the bust stands over 14" tall! This may wreak havoc to those with smaller shelves who like to display their collection by movie. Just as it states, he is highly detailed with an intricately sculpted droid caller and utility belt along with the lightsaber hilt. The bust does require some very minimal construction with the forearm that holds the lightsaber coming separate along with the actual lightsaber blade for a total of three pieces. The arm slides firmly into the open sleeve for a nice tight fit.
As stated above, Premier Guild Members were given the option of ordering an exclusive variant version of Luke holding the T-16 Skyhopper model as he does in the film. Our friends at GentleGiantCollectors.com have posted photos of the variant here.
