With all the negative/horror stories (particularly in my state of NJ) from the midnight showings of Episode III last night, I thought that a positive one might be welcome.
My wife and a friend had tickets for the 12:01AM at the AMC Clifton Commons 16 in Clifton, NJ. We arrived around 9:00PM and picked up our tickets, which turned out to be for Theater 8. After waiting on the line for only about 10 minutes, they came around and began pulling everyone for Theater 8 out of line; we were worried that there was a screw up at the theater and we were going to be told that there weren't enough prints of the movie for all the screens that were booked or something worse.
We were immediately ushered into our theater, which had just been recalibrated by the THX folks that morning specifically for Star Wars (I'll tell you - the sound absolutely rocked)! The house manager told us that our theater was the first one that they sold tickets for and they wanted die-hard fans like us to have the best possible experience. The process of getting fans loaded into the other theaters was just as smooth with the staff really being well prepared for the event.
We still had a 3-hour wait for the Lucasfilm logo to appear on the screen, but at least we could do so in the comfort of cushioned chairs as opposed to outside on the cold concrete. I have to tip my hat to the AMC management and staff for making the experience extremely positive and keeping the guests entertained and relaxed. We also had a number of fans providing good laughs with their antics; one guy named Spencer was a crowd-favorite. Overall, a great night to remember for years to come.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
