We have not done much reporting on Star Wars Galaxies over the past year or so as admittedly, the folks at BioWare have done a heck of a job making sure our attention was directed at the multi-media monster that is Star Wars: The Old Republic. That being said, Star Wars Galaxies officially shut down on December 15th and it certainly deserves a mention. Sony Online Entertainent and LucasArts officially launched the game back in 2003, and while there were some bumps in the road, the game still retained a small but loyal fanbase. We appreciate the pain of fellow fans who have lost an outlet for their Star Wars fandom and we hope they've all enjoyed their time with the GFFA RPG.
TomsHardware.com, PCGamer.com and Gamespot.com all have nice farewell coverage of Star Wars Galaxies and YouTube user sunteam shares the last three minutes of the EU-Chimaera server before it was shut down.
Oh, by the way, the Rebellion won!
R.I.P. Galaxies. Thanks for paving the way for what's to come.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
