Another Supergeek here with me picked up a copy of Stars and Stripes and found out that for the first time in history AAFES was getting a movie on it's actual release date in the states. The paper reported that Episode 3 would be released in Balad, Iraq on May 19th for one week only, then the movie would be taken to Kuwait.
The next day, we got to the theater as quickly as we could. En route we met the girl from American Wedding (one of the bridesmaids) and Dean Cain (Superman from Lois and Clark) who were hanging out on a USO morale tour.
Then, the movie.
I SAW IT! OPENING DAY! IN IRAQ! yeah. It was all a blur to me until the big yellow letters scrolled across the screen and I damn near cried. ok, maybe I did actually cry a little. maybe. yeah, so I cried. a little. anyway
I've seen all three of the prequels on opening day.
So, the award for the *biggest geek in the universe* goes to me.
May 19th turned out to be the most memorable experience I've had here in Iraq. I guess God heard me when I begged him to do something about this Star Wars deal.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
