Hot on the heels of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 5, supervising director Dave Filoni talked to IGN's Eric Goldman about the last game-changing twenty episodes. As befits such a weighty topic, this interview is long -- five pages, to be exact. Filoni discusses pretty much every twist and turn in Season 5, including, as you'll read in the excerpt below, those D-Squad episodes with R2-D2, WAC-47, and Colonel Gascon.
IGN: How many variations on that storyline did you discuss, and how did you come to focus on what you did?
Filoni: Well, we all knew it would be a challenge to stretch it for four episodes, that?s for sure. Brent Friedman took up the task, and I thought that was really brave, because some of them were just concepts that we had never done before. When you consider the second episode as largely a kind of existential exploration into the void of nothing -- and yet we all really like that episode. It was a visual challenge because there wasn?t a lot on screen. That?s actually in some ways more challenging than a completely congested Coruscant. The one with the clone I knew would be a very strong episode. I think after we had pitched it out, there was some debate. We actually wanted to include Gregor more, but it just wasn?t really how the stories were structured. I had to actually adapt the story to make it believable that maybe Gregor survived the explosion at the end, which I believe is actually the case. But it was a big challenge.
Filoni doesn't spill the beans on the future of his series, but there's a lot of great analysis in here about what we've already seen. Click here to check out the interview.

I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
