Amanda Lucas (daughter of George) was all geared up to return to the rough and tough sport of MMA last evening with a scheduled match against Heather Martin in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Unfortunately, Amanda had to withdraw from the match when her opponent failed to make weight. The weight limit for the match was 165 pounds. (which Lucas achieved with room to spare), but Heather Martin weighed in at 178 pounds. Amanda said the following about the situation to MMAFighting.com:
"This is a professional sport, one I take seriously, and in which I dedicate my life to," Lucas said. "To fight someone in her condition or to fight someone way beyond the contracted weight is bad for both myself, and women's MMA."
I'm sure it could not have been an easy decision to withdraw, especially from a match to which Lucas was surely looking forward. I can't imagine Amanda Lucas fights due to obligation. She does so because she's passionate about her sport and craft. We wish her the best of luck in her next match. Her current professional MMA record is 1-1.

I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
