Over at StarWars.com, Lucas Books editor Sue Rostoni just revealed the Dramatis Personae list for Troy Denning's upcoming Star Wars novel, Inferno, book six in the 'Legacy of the Force' series.
Highlight below to read:
Alema Rar Ben Skywalker Han Solo Jacen Solo Jae Juun Jagged Fel Jaina Solo Leia Organa Solo Luke Skywalker Saba Sebatyne Salle Serpa; GAG major (male human) Tahiri Veila Tarfang Tenel Ka Zekk
Ewok commentary/analysis follows (once again, highlight to read): Most of the cast-list are expected, consisting of the Solo/Skywalker clan, minus the late Mara Skywalker (Han and Leia, Luke and Ben, Jaina with Jag and Zekk, and Jacen and Tenel Ka), plus Alema Rar, who's the only recurring antagonist (except Jacen) still standing.
The Sullustan smuggler Jae Juun and his Ewok sidekick Tarfang are recurring characters of Denning's, who appeared in the Dark Nest trilogy. Needless to say, I'm delighted by the appearance of an Ewok in this book.
I'm disappointed, however, by the absence of a Wookiee: Jaina's former sidekick Lowbacca is missing, as are fellow Jedi Tesar Sebatyne and Kyp Durron.
However, we do see the return of two other Jedi characters. One of these is another Denning creation: Saba Sebatyne, a Jedi Master from the lizard-like Barabel people (presumably with her sense of humour intact and her tail regrown).
It's also good to see a return for Tahiri Veila, ex-girlfriend of Han and Leia's dead son Anakin. She hasn't appeared since the middle of Betrayal, the first novel in the series, and I'm glad to see the tough little blonde's return (although slightly nervous, too, because last we heard, Jacen would have quite liked to turn her into a Sith).
Major Salle Serpa is, as near as I can tell, a brand new character, a relatively high-ranking officer within Jacen Solo's paramilitary Galactic Alliance Guard.
Also of interest are the people who're not mentioned. There's no apeparance by Jacen's young daughter Princess Allana, or indeed any Hapan characters except her mother, Queen Tenel Ka. Nor do we see Alliance military commander and now dictator, Cha Niathal - or her deposed predecessor, Cal Omas.
Mara Jade and Lumiya, both killed in Sacrifice, are of course absent, along with assassinated Corellian premeir Durr Gejjen. But surviving Confederation leaders Turr Phennir, Fyor Rodan and Denjax Teppler aren't on the list either. And there's no sign of Corellian exiles Corran Horn and Wedge Antilles, nor of anyone from the Imperial Remnant or the Chiss, unless we count Jag.
All this may suggest that this is going to be a highly Jedi-focused book, perhaps with some smugglers on the side. But Denning has a habit of surprising his readers, and this cast-list sounds as if it should make for a fun story.
Last but not least: Jacen Solo appears under his given name, rather than the Sith title of Darth Caedus that he assumed at the end of the previous novel. I don't know if it matters at all, but it's there to think about....
Kudos to Whitey for being the first to break the news on TheForce.Net's message-boards, and special thanks to the lovely sabarte for letting me know it had appeared!
