In a shocking development that sent tremors through the Force, Christie's International Auction House failed to sell a full Darth Vader costume that was reportedly used on the set of The Empire Strikes Back. As we reported last month, the suit was expected to sell for between $250,000 and $365,000, but when it came time to bid, no one met the reserve price.
As the NY Daily News reports:
Billed by Christie's as "exceptionally rare," the costume was put up for auction by an unidentified American collector who had acquired the Darth Vader getup in 2003.
A percentage of the proceeds from the auction were earmarked for cancer research.
