Dane Petersen sends in a summary of Irvin Kershner's interview in the Spring issue of Shock Cinema magazine:

I was in Borders on Sunday and checked out this magazine called Shock Cinema. Inside was an interview with Irvin Kershner, in which he talked a little about ESB, and the fact that he was asked to direct ROTJ and why he turned it down.

He went on to say that Richard Marquand really didn't direct the movie; it was Kershner's assistant director and Lucas. It was something that was kept quiet. In fact, the actors didn't respond to Richard Marquand at all. Kershner finished it off by mentioning that the relationship between Lucas and Marquand was quite bad.

Kersh also offered his opinion of the Prequel Trilogy, which is not favorable.
