Catching up with the nomadic exhibit, Saturday, June 18th marks the opening of Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination at The Health Museum in Houston, Texas. This leg of the exhibition tour will run until September 18, 2011. From there we have a gap in the schedule before the exhibit lands at Exporation Place in Wichita, Kansas (May 26 - Sept. 3, 2012) and then at the Orlando Science Center (October 13, 2012 - March 17, 2013).
In addition, CBSLasVegas.com now reports that Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination also has it's sights set on Sin City...
"A Las Vegas developer, Order 66 Entertainment LLC, has plans to bring George Lucas? movie franchise to the Strip. Will ?The Force? be with them?
Plans were submitted to the Clark County Planning Commission recently to locate a ?Star Wars? museum on Las Vegas Boulevard, between the Monte Carlo and New York-New York.
The proposal was submitted by a company controlled by Jay Bloom, who recently opened the Mob Experience at the Tropicana. The land where the museum is planned would be on the site of the old CityCenter residential sales office, which is owned by MGM Resorts International.
The museum would be named ?Stars Wars: Where Science meets Imagination,? and would showcase props, costumes and models from the blockbuster movies."
While the exhibit would only reside in a 20,622-square-foot office complex for the typical 6 months, the source article indicates that this could be longer if the attraction displays signs of long-term profitability. At this point, there are no timeline details for the project. Click here for more information.
Thanks to Brad for the heads up on the Vegas news!
