The message of the Project:
The "Heracles, Jesus Christ and Lord Vader on the crossroads" project is both an artistic and a philosophical endeavour, the main focus of which is the ancient philosophical idea contained within the myth, titled "The Choice of Heracles".
The tale speaks of Heracles choosing between the nymphs Virtue and Pleasure, thus deciding to shape his own future. The myth originated over 2500 years ago among the followers of Pythagoras, and serves even today as a metaphorical answer to the question of how should one live, in order to achieve inner peace and happiness.
The universal tone of the Pythagorean idea is reflected in European philosophy, Christian religion and modern pop culture. In Star Wars, it is Lord Vader who makes the choice between Darkness and Light.
The project connects the notions found in philosophy, religion and pop culture with art as a form of self-expression. Famous personalities of the world of Polish culture and science, well-known actors, politicians and reporters, who had already made their choices in life, will be asked to paint one of the three characters, thus forming one giant painting. It will serve as inspiration and encouragement for people to search for their own way in life, and shall remind them that even celebrities had to earn their success.
