Richard LeParmentier At Phoenix Comicon

Posted By Mike on November 2, 2008

See the press release below:

Admiral Motti Uses Death Star to Threaten Phoenix Comicon

Mesa? The Phoenix Comicon, courtesy of Toy Anxiety (www.toyanxiety.com) is bringing the last surviving Imperial Officer from the original Star Wars Movies: Richard LeParmentier who played "Admiral Motti."

"We believed in the Force, and it came through with Admiral Motti," said Rick Hernandez, Marketing Director.

In the first Star Wars movie ever made, "Episode 4: A New Hope," Richard portrayed that famous Admiral Motti, the Imperial Officer who believed more in the power of his Death Star than the power of The Force. Admiral Motti and audiences around the world learned to respect the Dark Side when Darth Vader choked Admiral Motti with but a raised finger, the "most famous Darth Vader moment in all six films."

However, Richard has also been involved in many productions since then, including the international hits, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" "Rollerball," and "Reds." Currently he is a screenwriter based out of the UK, writing mostly for the British industry and the British, US, and German television industry.

"Richard has seen it all," said Kate Davids, Communications Director, "From the beginning of Star Wars to how the industry is rolling along today, he's simply fantastic!"

Toy Anxiety, Richard's sponsor, is the largest collectible toy store located in Phoenix with a large variety of toys and collectibles based on movies, TV shows, comic characters, video game characters, military and much more. Their store is at the NE corner of 32nd St and Thunderbird in Phoenix. They have a wide assortment of toys, from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, GI Joe, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Simpsons, Family Guy, Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spider Man, Batman, Superman? there's just too much to list.

"We're really thankful to Toy Anxiety," said Matt Solberg, "And we'd thank them more if we could stop drooling over their figurines."

The Phoenix Comicon is Arizona's largest, multi-media, popular arts convention, focusing on comic books, anime, gaming, music, and film. The Comicon presents a full weekend schedule of guests and programming for hobbyists by attracting the top segments of the comics, anime, and gaming worlds. For more information visit www.phoenixcomicon.com.

Star Wars author Kevin J. Anderson will be on hand as well!

Phoenix Comicon will run from January 23-25, 2009 at the Mesa Convention Center.
