Back on Leap Day 2012, we reported that Lucasfilm's planned digital production facility planned for Marin County, CA had taken another step towards becoming a reality. Things have apparently changed drastically since then. SeattlePI.com (courtesy of the AP) now reports that LFL has abandoned their preferred location:
"We love working and living in Marin, but the residents of Lucas Valley have fought this project for 25 years, and enough is enough," the company said in a statement. "We have several opportunities to build the production stages in communities that see us as a creative asset, not as an evil empire."
LFL now plans on selling the land to a developer in hopes that low-income housing will be constructed on the proposed site. Click here for the full story.
