Hayden Christensen Suing The USA Network

Posted By Mike on June 27, 2012

Apparently Hayden Christensen pitched an idea to the USA Network back in 2005 about a doctor who makes house calls to the afluent. The project was coincidentally called "Housecalls." While the show never got made, Hayden and his brother feel that the currently running USA program "Royal Pains" bears a stong resemblence to their premise. Rather than storming the USA Network headquarters with the 501st, the brothers have decided to file suit. Click here to check out the source article with a bit more detail at FoxNews.com.

Thanks to Justin, John and Vehder for the heads up!

UPDATE: NBC Connecticut reports that Manhattan federal judge Colleen McMahon has dismissed Hayden's and his brother's case against the USA Network for stealing their story idea that the brothers claimed became the show Royal Pains. The case was tossed out essentially because the judge ruled that it concerned ideas that were not copyrightable.

UPDATE #2: The Hayden Christensen verses the USA Network saga is far from over according to a new article from Rueters. A judge has now ruled back in favor of Hayden, his brother Tove, and Forest Park Pictures in their suit against the cable network. This new ruling does not necessarily mean that the Christnesen brothers have won in their suit. This is a reversal on last year's dismissal of their claims that USA had taken their premise for a series titled Housecall and then created the currently running program Royal Pains. So, now the suit may resume. We'll keep you posted as we learn more. Until then, click here for the full article.
