With April Fools' Day 2011 now behind us, it's time to look back at the prankery and merriment that was visited upon the Star Wars fan community by numerous tricksters. Here's a roundup of the pranks we saw on Friday.
Wookieepedia "went 3D" for the day. All pages were rendered in red-blue text, and bothlogos sported 3D branding. A large image on the Wookieepedia homepage also claimed that the site had received a cease-and-desist letter from Lucasfilm for violations of the company's "policies regarding content usage and copyrights." It warned that a permanent shutdown would take place at 12:00pm ET on April 4th.
Club Jade announced that it would transition from Star Wars news to Star Wars recipes, starting with a variety of their favorite Ewok dishes.
Comedy group Improv Everywhere staged a new subway skit involving Jar Jar, but it went horribly wrong when anti-Gungan violence erupted. (The prank was the altercation itself; no Gungans were harmed in the making of their skit.)
What a roundup! If you fell for any of these pranks today, then I suppose you should know that the word "gullible" is written on your ceiling.
