There's a new fan film on the horizon from Xpress Entertainment titled "Secrets of the Rebellion".
Here's a few words from the director Mark Twitchell.
"The film is set a few days before ANH and follows the true format of a Star Wars film to the letter. We incorporate droids, the Jedi element, good vs evil in a very classic way with real character development and a heartfelt approach. In fact the whole film is going after an original trilogy feel in general. Bringing back the original most loved characters of that saga in a very tasteful way is one way we achieve this.
Since we follow true format there are two or three things going on at a time that all interweave back and forth and then collide at the end while still having something to do with one another.
We tell the story of how Han Solo set the Kessel run record, and how he names his ship as well as revealing why he had to ditch his cargo. We also have a very artfully crafted way of showing how he won the Falcon from Lando in a game of sabacc in a flashback sequence that we had to make sure wouldn't come off cheesy or contrived.
The alternate story tracks show what happened to the last jedi left in the galaxy apart from Ben and Yoda, how the Death Star Plans were stolen and what the Empire had to go through in order to track them down. I feel we've really blended elements of the EU into this seamlessly while taking some creative license in order to liven things up and adapt them better for the movie medium."
