A Word from David Nutley
Director of "DARK SKIES"
My inspiration for this once said 'Films are never completed, they are only abandoned' I understand what he means. It is time to abandon my project and feed it to the lions.
This film has partly been made to show what 'the little guys' can do. I read countless topics about needing this, and needing that, in order to make a fanfilm, but I have always believed all you need is a camera to record, and a computer to manipulate. The rest is just blood, sweat and tears
I made Dark Skies over a period of ten months. I wrote it, directed it, filmed it, animated it, comped it, everything'd it. If you don't like it, the blame rests on my shoulders. Dark Skies takes a 'what if' view of the Star Wars universe, and focuses specifically on the Skywalker family. You have been warned, this movie is strictly non-canon.
This project has been without doubt the most difficult creative challenge I have ever undertaken. There where times I thought it would never end, times I hated every frame, and luckily times I thought it was worth finishing. I'm happy now to be able to say I've made a fanfilm, and made one on my own.
Having said that, I couldn't have done it without the fantastic 3-D models from SWMA and Sci-Fi3D. And perhaps more importantly, the help and advice from the people over at TFN fanfilms forum. Their knowledge and encouragement has been invaluable. Basically, I couldn't have done it without them.
I hope you enjoy watching Dark Skies, for the most part I enjoyed making it...
