A Word from Shane Felux
Director of "REVELATIONS"
You could trace everything back to 1977 where sitting in a darkened theater I was whisked away into Star Wars. It's what led me to majoring in directing and acting. You could maybe even say it was Kevin Rubio's Troops that brought that spark, that desire to make a film into being again because it was Troops that brought on the new wave of fan films. Films I had watched and decided would be a great stepping stone back into the world of directing.
I thought about it for awhile and realized that there would never be a "good" time to do it. There was a full time job, a spouse, and now a child. It was only going to get harder. Technology? Well that wasn't an excuse either. It was available and affordable.
So I told Dawn, put up or shut up. If you want to make a movie then write me that script. Three months later, draft one was in my hand, several actors were cast, the camera was purchased, and the rock quarry was booked.
When I decided to do Revelations I went with the mind set of treating the movie as professional and as real as any feature film. Whether it's costumes, story, CG, acting, etc., all of it had to have equal effort - it had to have the best effort. Nothing was going to be sacrificed. In doing so we have been able to create a strong production with dedicated teams all believing and enjoying Revelations.
Frank Hernandez (Declan) tells me that he thinks I'm incredibly lucky. It's amazing how you say Star Wars and fans come out of the woodwork, both amateur and professional alike. We've been incredibly lucky in the dedication our talent and crew have shown us. Some have flown in from Utah while others have packed up their families and hit the road at 3am to come in from Ohio. And still more have come joined us from Massachusetts to South Carolina. Our staff is coast-to-coast and located in four countries.
It's been a hell of a ride so far and we've still got a ways to go but it's been an incredible experience. There are days when I'm sorry I started this and want nothing more than to toss it all away but thankfully those times are brief and far between. It's been a joy to do this movie and a privilege to work with the talented folks who have contributed time and effort toward one vision.
We wanted to create a film to be enjoyed by fans around the world. Revelations was also created to give artisans and craftsmen the chance to showcase their work, allow all those involved a chance to live the dream, and maybe - just maybe - open the eyes in the industry as to what can be done with a small budget, dedicated people, and undiscovered talent.
