Rebel Legion And 501st Prepare To March

Posted By Dustin on November 22, 2007

Star Wars Fan Joel W. writes in:

"I just figured I would let you know about the Rebel Legion Freedom Base covering Virginia, DC, North Carolina, South Carolina and West Virginia as well as Garrison Tyrannus of the 501st serving the Virgina area, marching in the biggest Christmas parade around our area.

The Richmond Ukrops & Retail Merchants Association Christmas parade attracts over 250,000 spectators from all over Virginia with thousands more watching the TV broadcast.

It will take place on Saturday December 1, 2007 and the 501st and Rebel Legion will be marching in spots 50 and 51 out of 84 total group/participants. The entire unit line-up can be viewed at http://www.richmondchristmasparade.org/unit_lineup.xhtml

Between the two groups we will have almost 60 participants marching and interacting along the parade route which spans about 2.6 miles. We are extremely excited since this is the first time that both groups have marched in the parade. Last year just the 501st marched.

As for TV coverage this year, in the RICHMOND AREA The Parade is broadcast LIVE on WCVE the day of the parade from 10:00 am - noon. Rebroadcasts will be shown on NBC 12 on Saturday, December 15 and Tuesday, December 25 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. From December 25 - January 13, the Parade is available through On Demand on Comcast Cable. And throughout the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA the Parade will be shown throughout the state of Virginia on PBS affiliates. There are also other times that it will be broadcast that can be found here: http://www.richmondchristmasparade.org/index.xhtml"
