It's time once again to review another wave of Hasbro's The Clone Wars action figures!
The final wave for 2010 includes a few troops, a bounty hunter, and one of the most popular Jedi Knights ever created for the Expanded Universe...all brought to life in the animated style!
Galactic Battle Game This year's pack-in gimmick continues in this wave with Battle Card, Battle Stands, and Battle Dice.
Now, onto the figures themselves!
CW34: Undead Geonosian:
Zombies are always cool, right? Well, that's the idea behind this story...only with a little sci-fi elements added in. The dead bugs from Geonosis are brought back to life by way of a slimy critter that inhabits their bodies and controls their minds.
Sounds pretty gross...and that's part of the fun! This figure is another great addition to the super-articulated design and adds a unique look to the inevitable multitude of Geonosian repaints we're sure to see in the future.
The removable "chopped off" limbs are a nice touch, but this is another figure with the unfortunate feature of having his accessories fall off...the wings and the chestplate are difficult to stay on.
CW35: Clone Trooper Draa:
Another clone from the series, so it's nothing new here other than paint, right? Well, not exactly. This figure of Draa uses the new "less articulated" buck first utilized on last year's Commander Stone figure, only now with a normal belt and non-removable helmet.
Definitely a nice troop builder figure, complete with multiple accessories.
CW36: Quinlan Vos:
Without a doubt, the star of this wave is Quinlan Vos. Originally a background character briefly glimpsed in The Phantom Menace, Vos was given a vast backstory in the Dark Horse Comics over the years. While his apprentice Aayla Secura made the jump to both the big and small screens (and numerous action figures), Vos has had to wait his turn for the spotlight.
Sporting a great likeness to the onscreen depiction (does anyone else notice a resemblance to Dave Filoni?), Quinlan Vos finally appeared in the series this season, fitting in flawlessly into the timeline without contradicting his established continuity. The only issue was that his time onscreen was too short, so hopefully he'll make a return appearance very soon.
As for the action figure, it faithfully captures the look from the show, and includes added hip articulation for some great Jedi poses. The hoverboard is a fun accessory, although it was not actually seen in the episode.
CW37: Cato Parasitti:
The final action figure for this wave...and the year...is another bounty hunter from season 2. Cato Parasitti is a clawdite -- a shape-shifting alien race first seen in Attack of the Clones in the form of Zam Wesell -- but now brought to life in the animated style.
The figure once again does not disappoint, with super-articulation throughout and a flip-up mask. The belt puches tend to fall off, but otherwise, this figure is very true to the character's appearance in the show.
Stay tuned for more updates as each figure is in the spotlight and added to The Clone Wars Photo Archive!
