The people over at SWBattleField.com have been cooking up a storm. Fans of the popular WWII game, Battlefield 1942, they decided to combine their love of Star Wars with their favorite First Person Shooter to create a mod that all Star Wars Fans can enjoy.
The following is an excerpt from their interview with BFCentral.com (Full Interview)
urbaN: When do you expect to be able to release the public Beta of SWBF? Wrafe: Public beta is expected in Late March Early April, depending on how Alpha testing goes and also depending on the completion of some of the models.
urbaN: How long after that do you feel it will be until we see the official v1.0 of SWBF? Wrafe: Well, the official SWBF will be very big, it's going to have its own custom made levels, with textures, as well as a heck of alot of new objects, like buildings and vehicles. We're "hoping" for around Early winter/Christmas time.
urbaN: I see mentions of battles planned on the forums, lets discuss those for a moment. The Battle of Endor. How do you expect to do this? What kind of capture points will be in it? What kind of vehicles will be included? Wrafe: Ok, well we are gonna try and make endor as close to possible as it was in the film. Obviously we cant have several races fighting, like Wookies, Ewoks, Rebels, Stormtroopers and the like..... it is unlikely bf will allow that and also would be very one sided to the Imperials. We hope to make a forest like map, with plenty of hills and rough ground, a huge area in the middle, which we hope can be a woodland but also big enough for speeder bikes. There will be a few bunkers as mid map capture points. Rebel alliance will start off in a Ewok camp. For the Imperials, we plan to make the huge landingpad (with an imperial class shuttle) and the Shield Generator which is based on Endor (for the deathstar). I'd like to add that we will be incorporating a new game mode too. Based a bit like the coral sea map where you have to destroy the enemy Carrier and fly through a marker to win the map. We plan to make an objective mode following the same lines. We feel this can be achieved by destroying the Shield Generator on Hoth, Shield Generator on Endor, and something similiar to sending the torpedo down the tube on the Death Star.
