Gazaran

an alien race native to the planet Veron, the Gazaran were intelligent, gliding reptiles that were extremely friendly and eager to please. It was this trait that helped them escape the brunt of the Empire's pro-human stance, since the Gazaran offered no resistance to Imperial rule. They were strictly herbivores, and lived in the fevvenor trees of the Veron rainforest, establishing vast cities in their branches. At the height of the Galactic Civil War, the Gazaran had achieved minimal level of technology and industry, mainly geared toward the production of items needed by the tourists who visited Veron. Each Gazar was given a name which described the city they lived in, their status in the city, and the names of their parents. Thus, the name of a particular Gazar could change over time. The average Gazaran was highly superstitious, and afraid of the larger creatures of the Veron rainforest. Each Gazaran city was ruled by a female who had given birth to at least twelve litters, and other females held positions of power because of their ability to give birth. Males, by contrast, were responsible for gathering food and protecting the females.
