this legitimate mining operation was set up during Deca Brun's campaign to succeed Queen Veda as planetary governor. The corporation was really a front for Brun to acquire political backing from Offworld Mining Corporation. If Brun had been elected, Offworld would have obtained the rights to mine over half of Gala's surface, including much of the Galacian Sea.
