this was the name used by the New Republic Scout Service for any one of about 5,000 frontier worlds used as clearing houses on local system information. Most of the facilities on Frontier Posts were automated, and provided scouts working in remote areas of the galaxy with current information. These scouts could also receive new mission orders at Frontier Posts, as well as obtain a little rest and relaxation.
