this was the ground-based branch of the Imperial armed forces. Like the Imperial Navy, the Imperial Army was formed when the Grand Army of the Republic completed its duties during the Clone Wars, and the Old Republic was reformed into the Galactic Empire. The mainstay of the GAR, the clone troopers, were rechristened as stormtroopers, although they maintained their signature white armor.
