this vast area of still, dense fog and gases was located in the atmosphere of the planet Bespin. The Dead Eye was one of the few atmospheric phenomena that changed very little within Bespin's swirling gases. Its existence was noted during the initial exploratory missions to the planet, suggesting that it had been present in the atmosphere for centuries.
