Sidereal Period
this was one of the handful of calendar re-synchronizations that took place during the 25,000-year history of the Old Republic. The exact reason for the shift to the Sidereal Period calendar were lost over time, and only a handful of ancient computer systems actually remembered the dating scheme and used it on a regular basis. What was known was that the Sidereal Period calendar was instituted 5,689 years before the Battle of Yavin. This calendar system was abandoned in the wake of the Great Re-Synchronization.
