this was the name given to the basic suit of body armor that was produced for the first wave of clone troopers that were produced on Kamino for the Grand Army of the Republic, during the years leading up to the Clone Wars. As the war raged on, and the leaders of the GAR realized that more adaptable body armor was needed by the front-line troopers, Phase II Armor was implemented.
