this type of mine was developed many millennia before the Clone Wars. Like most mines, the poison mine could be placed just below the surface of the ground, and was activated when a being or vehicle put pressure on its outer casing. However, a poison mine didn't simply explode like other mines. Instead, it released a dense cloud of poisonous gas, which quickly affected any beings in the immediate area.
