this was the name given to any form of automated fire suppression system that looked like a turret-mounted laser cannon. These devices were prevalent at remote outposts, many millennia before the onset of the Clone Wars. The nozzles of the cold turret could be aimed at the source of a fire, and sprayed a chemical that both doused the fire to eliminate oxygen and chilled the ambient temperature to reduce the damage from heat. A smaller version of the cold turret was used on firefighting droids.
