Tracer Beam
this was a low-powered beam of cohesive energy that could be fired from a blaster weapon to indicate the trajectory of a beam. Many weapons could be set to fire only tracer beams, which allowed them to be used for target practice. In combat, tracer beams were used sparingly, since they consumed power like regular blaster bolts. However, they were useful in finding the correct range and trajectory for hitting a target in darkened or night-time environments.
