Prototyper
this device was developed during the final years of the Old Republic, as part of duplication system. The prototyper could read the outward appearance of an object in three dimensions, then pass digitized information on the object to the duplicator. The duplicator could then mass-produce copies of the original. Although developed for scientific applications, the prototyper and the duplicator eventually made their way onto the black market, where they were sold as counterfeiting devices.
