Bothan Fade
this was the name of a naval maneuver that was originally executed by a fleet of Bothan warships, although many other races had similar kinds of maneuvers under different names. The basic idea was to bring a token fleet into battle against the enemy, while maintaining the bulk of the fleet - including the larger warships - at a safe distance, preferably hidden behind a moon or other planetary body. As the token fleet began to take damage from enemy fire, it would slowly retreat, ostensibly to place some distance between themselves and the enemy. However, the retreat was carefully executed so that the enemy's ships were drawn into the midst of the hidden portion of the fleet, which could then open fire on the enemy. In this way, the enemy would be badly damaged, while the majority of the fleet remained intact.
